2017 Website of the Year

A winning collaboration

We are delighted to announce that Ronnoco has been awarded the 2017 NEWi Award for Best Website of the Year. Affectionately named 'the silver thong', our award now sits proudly in the studio nestled between our design books and quirky cool objects.

The NEWi Awards for Digital Creativity celebrate innovators from around regional Australia – individuals, companies, non-profit organisations and governments - who have created or used digital technology to achieve success.

The SiDCOR website, for which we’ve received this recognition, was a collaborative project working closely with SiDCOR’s internal marketing team - Sharon Douglas, Lara Shipard and Jade Meier

Brief and approach

SiDCOR's mission is to change people’s lives by helping their staff and clients grow into their potential. Ronnoco were engaged to develop an online presence that communicates the culture, purpose and values of the business that underpin their approach to developing their staff and working with their clients.

Our first task was to map out the user flow of the website taking into consideration the depth of content and the requirement for the site to appear light from the home page. Using hub pages we removed the need for drop-down navigation and provided gateways into content groups. Insights stories have multiple filters across post category, author and location to future proof the prolific on-going communications strategy. And on the mobile, the UX was tailored to ensure users didn’t get lost in the weight of content.

Once we had established the UX wireframe we moved onto the design component of the project. The SiDCOR team shared a stylistic mood board to inform the look and feel and from there we developed a clean and bold visual direction that complimented the existing brand mark.

Fundamentally the website needed to portray the energy and progressive attributes of the business which we achieved through a mix of strong typography, black and white bespoke images by local photographer, Hannah Rose, and lively injections of colour in key areas. Additionally, Lara Shipard from the SiDCOR team designed and produced custom animation pieces to highlight the service delivery and engagement process that clients are taken through.

On approval of the design components, we produced a Website Project Identification Document (Web PID) which is the development handover document identifying the full scope of the project including functionality specifications, CMS requirements and final designs for desktop and mobile.

The custom PHP site, developed by Zimpleweb, was designed using a flexible CMS with multiple template options that allows SiDCOR to periodically update and change the look and feel of the user experience. The CMS also provides a platform and support for their ongoing communications strategy by allowing video embedding, EDM hosting and a multifaceted and filterable Insights component.

From end to end the project took roughly 4 months of collaborating, scoping, designing, developing, refining and finessing to achieve the desired outcome.

Feedback

Whilst we are delighted to be acknowledged by the NEWi Awards for the project, here at Ronnoco our focus is always connecting our clients to their audience and when it comes to a website, taking a user-centric approach to ensure users are engaged enough to stick around and read more.

Since the launch of the website SiDCOR have seen significant increases in traffic, engagement and session times but above all feedback has been positive around the success of the website in communicating their passion and purpose.

“Raz and the team at Ronnoco really helped us bring our dream website to life. We were looking for an agency that we could collaborate with, sharing both our ideas and designs. The only way we could get there was to build a bespoke site that really celebrated the culture, the mission and the creative side of the business. And that is what they gave us! I have now worked on three websites with Ronnoco and the service and standard have always been exemplary. Nothing is ever a problem. They work on every job with heart and soul – I can’t ask for much more than that.”
